While common PCR instruments press a metal plate onto the PCR consumable,these Mastercycler pro Thermal Cyclers have a vapo.protectTM lid that covers the PCR plate,tube,or strip with a cushion that conforms to its shape-no matter what plate,tube,,or strip you use.A snug fit cushion,in combination with high pressure and excellent heating capabilities of the lid,reduce evaporation to a minimun. Only 0-3% of the reaction volume evaporates using the new vapo.protect teachnology.Other thermal cycles can show evaporation on average of 10% and up to 50% at the corner positions of the block.
