 The ISI Loss standard test fixture board is used to generate jitter at 56Gbps NRZ and 112Gbps PAM3 and PAM-4 bit rates through a controllable amount of ISI. The true inter symbol interference (ISI) is only caused by losses caused by dielectric and skin effects. Group delay variation is an important loss consideration factor for data rates exceeding 25 Gbpsec, which has been minimized through special layout techniques, raw connector initiation, and the use of controlled woven dielectric materials. The ISI-USB4 loss modeling kit consists of 24 differential pairs of striplines of different lengths. The grounding holes around each structure maintain the purity of the jitter spectrum by suppressing unwanted resonance.
