Weinvestigatedtheformationofcocontinuousstructuresinpolymerblends.Thesepolymericbijels(bicontinuousinterfaciallyjammedemulsiongels)werecomposedofpolystyreneoligomer,polybuteneandfluorescenthydrophobicsilicananoparticles.Amicron-sizedcocontinuousmorphologywasstabilizedbyamonolayerofsilicananoparticlesattheinterface.Real-timeobservationofcoalescencedynamicsinco-continuouspolymerblendsstabilizedbyinterfacialparticleswasforthefirsttimeachievedvialaserscanningconfocalmicroscopy.Wedemonstratedthatsuppressionofcoalescencearisesfromcoverageofinterfacesbynanoparticles.Furthermore,bycombiningconfocalmicroscopywithrheology,wecorrelatedtherheologicalresponseofacocontinuousstructurewithitsmorphologychange.Wefoundthattherheologicalbehaviorcanbeattributedtocompetitionbetweeninterfaceshrinkageandparticlenetworkformation.Inaddition,weshowedthataparticlescaffoldismaintainedevenaftertheremixingoftwopolymerphasesabovethespinodalpoint.Finally,wealsodiscusseddifferencesbetweentheshearresponseoftheparticle-stabilizedcocontinuousstructureandnormalcolloidalgels:theformeroneismorefragilethanthelatterundershear.
