不能，光纤需要用红光笔(或红光光源)，大红300至1000元不等。使用时将光纤接入红光笔(或红光光源).断点处会用红色光溢出. 另外比较专业的人士可以使用OTDR(光时域反射仪).这个是专业仪器，不适用于个人. 是通光断点处的反射信息进行反馈信息，然后计算断点位置.

寻线器不能寻光纤。只能寻找能感应导电的介质，如铜，铁等，光纤是玻璃纤维，不导电，所以不能用寻线器寻找。工作原理: 寻信号震荡发声器发出的声音信号通过RJ45/RJ11通用接口接入目标线缆的端口上，至使目标线缆回路周围产生一环绕的声音信号场，用高灵敏度感应式寻线器很快在回路沿途和未端识别它发出信号场，从而找到这条目的线缆。寻线器利用了感应寻线原理来寻找线缆，所以它不需打开线缆的绝缘层，在线缆外皮上的不同部位找到信号。可以在线缆群束中，地毯下、装饰墙内、天花上迅速找到所需电缆以及它的断点的大概位置。
