- ThecommercialusageofAl2O3nanoparticles(Al2O3NPs)hasgoneupsignificantlyintherecenttimes,enhancingtheriskofenvironmentalcontaminationwiththeseagentsandtheirconsequentadverseeffectsonlivingsystems.ThecurrentstudyhasbeendesignedtoevaluatethecytogeneticpotentialofAl2O3NPsinAlliumcepa(roottipcells)atarangeofexposureconcentrations(0.01,0.1,1,10,and100μg/mL),theiruptake/internalizationprofile,andtheoxidativestressgenerated.Wenotedadose-dependentdecreaseinthemitoticindex(42to28%)andanincreaseinthenumberofchromosomalaberrations.Variouschromosomalaberrations,e.g.sticky,multipolarandlaggardchromosomes,chromosomalbreaks,andtheformationofbinucleatecells,wereobservedbyoptical,fluorescence,andconfocallaserscanningmicroscopy.FT-IRanalysisdemonstratedthesurfacechemicalinteractionbetweenthenanoparticlesandroottipcells.ThebiouptakeofAl2O3inparticulateformledtoreactiveoxygenspeciesgeneration,whichinturnprobablycontributedtotheinductionofchromosomalaberrations.[详细]
