- InfluenceofaramidfibermoistureregainduringatmosphericplasmatreatmentonagingoftreatmenteffectsonsurfacewettabilityandbondingstrengthtoepoxyYuRen,ChunxiaWang,YipingQiu*Oneofthemaindifferencesbetweenalow-pressureplasmatreatmentandanatmosphericpressureplasmatreatmentisthatinatmosphere,thesubstratematerialmayabsorbsignificantamountofwaterwhichmaypotentiallyinfluencetheplasmatreatmenteffects.Thispaperinvestigateshowthemoistureabsorbedbyaramidfibersduringtheatmosphericpressureplasmatreatmentinfluencestheagingbehaviorofthemodifiedsurfaces.Kevlar49fiberswithdifferentmoistureregains(MR)(0.5,3.5and5.5%,respectively)aretreatedwithatmosphericpressureplasmajet(APPJ)withheliumasthecarriergasandoxygenasthetreatmentgas.Surfacewettabilityandchemicalcompositions,andinterfacialshearstrengths(IFSS)toepoxyforthearamidfibersinallgroupsaredeterminedusingwatercontactanglemeasurements,X-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy(XPS),andmicro-bondpullouttests,respectively.Immediatelyaftertheplasmatreatment,thetreatedfibershavesubstantiallylowerwatercontactangles,highersurfaceoxygenandnitrogencontents,andlargerIFSStoepoxythanthoseofthecontrolgroup.Attheendof30dayagingperiod,thefiberstreatedwith5.5%moistureregainhadalowerwatercontactangleandmorepolargroupsonthefibersurface,leadingto75%improvementofIFSSoverthecontrolfibers,whilethoseforthe0.5and3.5%moistureregaingroupswereonly30%.[详细]
