This hot plate features an efficient, 900-watt infrared heater that can boil a liter of water over 30% faster than a conventional, 1200-watt ceramic hotplate. The chemical-resistant, ceramic top plate has a 5.5" (14 cm) diameter heating area that stays cool around the edges to help prevent accidental burns. "Hot" warning light flashes whenever plate temperature exceeds 50°C, and operates even when the hot plate is turned off.
