Low setting reduces photonicking or photobleaching of gel samples while doing preparative work. Dual- and triple-wavelength models cover a wide range of applications reducing the need for multiple units. Use the longwave setting for viewing stained gels, the midrange setting for sensitive nucleic acid visualization, and the shortwave setting to irradiate samples.
