QuantitySize:0.2ml(dilutewithpH7.4 0.01MPBSorantibodydiluent)Background:StARplaysakeyroleintheacuteregulationofsteroidhormonesynthesisbyenhancingtheconversionofcholesterolintopregnenolone.StARpermitsthecleavageofcholesterolintopregnenolonebymediatingthetransportofcholesterolfromtheoutermitochondrialmembranetotheinnermitochondrialmembrane.Mutationsinthisgeneareacauseofcongenitallipoidadrenalhyperplasia(CLAH),alsocalledlipoidCAH.Apseudogeneofthisgeneislocatedonchromosome13.Whileseveraltranscriptvariantsmayexistforthisgene,thefull-lengthnaturesofonlytwohavebeendescribedtodate.Thesetworepresentthemajorvariantsofthisgeneandencodedistinctisoforms.
