Hypothesis:Afacile,dialysis-basedsynthesisofstablenearinfrared(nIR)absorbingplasmonicgoldnanoparticles(kmax=6501000nm)willincreasetheyieldofnIRparticlesandreducetheamountofgoldcolloidcontaminantintheproductmixture.Experiments:Chloroauricacidandsodiumthiosulfatewerereactedusingadialysismembraneasareactionvessel.Productyieldandcompositionwasdeterminedandcomparedtotraditionalsynthesismethods.Theproductparticledistribution,yield,andpartitioningofgoldbetweendispersedproductandmembrane-adsorbedgoldweredetermined.Findings:Thesynthesisresultsinpolydisperseparticlesuspensionscomprisedof70%spheroid-likeparticles,27%triangularplates,and3%rod-likestructureswitha3%batch-to-batchvariationandaprominentnIRabsorptionbandwithkmax=6501000nm.Theamountofsmallgoldcolloid(kmax=530nm;d<10nm)intheisolatedproductwasreducedby96%comparedtotraditionalmethods.Additionally,91.1%ofthegoldstartingmaterialisretainedinthesolution-basednanoparticlemixturewhile8.2%isfoundonthedialysismembrane.Thesynthesisresultsinaqualityratio(QR=AbsnIR/Abs530)of1.72.4(twicethatofprevioustechniques)and14.3timesgreaterODmlyieldofthenIR-absorbingnanoparticlefraction.[详细]
