EFFECT OF PHOSPHORUS ON THE FRICTION AND HARDNESS

SUMMARY Using a pin on ring machine the effects of phosphorus content on the friction and wear characteristics of grey cast iron were studied.Critical speed transition are related to the physical properties of iron-phosphorus alloys and in conjunction with metallographic studies,theories regarding the wear mechanisms are discussed.
